Gemini Gate Motor Troubleshooting Guide
Troubleshooting Problems During the Installation/Operating Phase
- The system learns the wrong limit position (Page 23)
- Possible Cause: Battery not fully charged or obstruction interpreted as limit.
- Remedy/Test: Charge the battery before first operation. Identify and rectify possible obstruction. Assist the gate manually during the learning phase.
- The electrical motor does not turn (Page 23)
- Possible Cause: The battery may not be connected, or the electrical power may not be correctly connected. The 16A fuse on the electronic control card may be blown.
- Remedy/Test: Connect the battery. Check and rectify the electrical power connection as necessary. Replace with the correct value fuse if blown.
- Power is ON (LED indicating) but the motor does not react (Page 23)
- Possible Cause: Wiring to the electronic control card is not properly connected or the electronic control card is defective.
- Remedy/Test: Check and rectify the wiring as necessary. Replace the electronic control card if defective.
- Motor operates by actuating the push button, but not with the remote control (Page 23)
- Possible Cause: The remote may not be learned correctly, the remote control battery may be flat, or the remote control may be defective.
- Remedy/Test: Check and if necessary, reset security code. Replace the battery. Replace the remote control if defective.
- The motor activates with the remote control but not with the push button (Page 24)
- Possible Cause: Faulty wiring to the push button or push-button faulty.
- Remedy/Test: Disconnect the push button wiring from the GEMINI gate motor and bridge the COMMON and TRIG connections at the connector block. If the motor operates, the wiring is faulty and must be repaired. Disconnect push button wiring at the push button. Momentarily bridge the wires at the push button. If the motor operates, the push button is faulty and must be repaired or replaced.
- Gate motor direction incorrect (Page 24)
- Possible Cause: Incorrect setting.
- Remedy/Test: Refer to “Reversing Electrical motor direction” p.15.
- Receiver reception insufficient (Page 24)
- Possible Cause: Transmitter battery flat or the receiver range is obstructed.
- Remedy/Test: Replace the battery. Place in a different position.
- Motor opens the gate for a short journey only, then closes again (Page 24)
- Possible Cause: Gate too heavy for unit, obstruction on track, or obstruction sensitivity too high.
- Remedy/Test: Discuss the problem with your local GEMINI agent. Clear obstruction from track. Adjust obstruction sensitivity to suit your gate.
- Buzzer sounds (if fitted) after the gate has closed (approximately one beep every 5 seconds) (Page 26)
- Possible Cause: Gate is not fully closed. The motor has forced the gate against the gate post or an obstruction on the wheel track.
- Remedy/Test: Check and if necessary, adjust stoppers.
- Buzzer sounds (if fitted) double beeps in succession (Page 26)
- Possible Cause: Main power supply defective.
- Remedy/Test: Check the following: Is the main power switched ON? 220V mains incorrectly connected. Electronic control card fuse blown. Switch ON the main power supply. Check and rectify as necessary. Replace with a fuse of the correct value.
- Buzzer sounds (if fitted) triple beeps in succession (Page 26)
- Possible Cause: Battery voltage low.
- Remedy/Test: Check the following: Is the main power switched ON? Power supply fuse blown. Switch ON the main power supply. Replace with a fuse of the correct value.
- Buzzer does not sound at all (Page 26)
- Possible Cause: Is the buzzer fitted? Is the buzzer jumper fitted? Buzzer defective.
- Remedy/Test: Fit buzzer. Fit buzzer jumper. Replace electronic control card.
- Upon activation gate only moves about 5mm and then stops (Page 26)
- Possible Cause: Faulty pulse sensor.
- Remedy/Test: See page 25/26.
Please note that during some of these checks/tests, it will be necessary to work on the unit while the electrical power is switched on (live), therefore utmost care must be taken to prevent electrical shocks.
